  • SCOPE Structural Engineering For The New Rear Addition, Load-Bearing Removals And Relocation Of Walls and Mechanical Engineering

  • INTERIOR DESIGN BY Rhonda Moscoe Interior Design Inc.

When the client purchased their new home, they knew they wanted to quickly modernize the out-of-date residence and make it their own. They approached Tignum to provide engineering services for their design concept.

When excavation commenced for the new rear addition, the contractor encountered an unidentified buried concrete structure. It was assumed that this structure was part of an old septic system. This caused major delays to the construction schedule and added additional costs to the project.

The structural design combined concrete, masonry, and engineered wood products to accomplish the client’s desired form. A review of the existing structure was necessary to ensure that the new load paths did not have any detrimental effects on the existing century home.
